It’s Hug your Cat Day!

Yes, really! Hug Your Cat Day is celebrated on June 4.

On Hug Your Cat Day, I am going to:Whether you can hug a cat or not, you can still celebrate with some great books and media from the library!

bob movie

Based on the best selling book, this heartwarming movie tells the story of two strays who rescue each other. Bob stars as himself (along with seven other cats), and he’s terrific!

World Bob

More about James Bowen’s life with his beloved companion on the streets of London.

cleo

Here’s another inspirational and beautifully written true story. Cleo tells the story of the lifelong bond between a kitten who’s the runt of a litter and a little boy mourning the loss of his brother.

Oscar

Some animals seem to have truly special gifts. Dr. Dosa worked with geriatric patients, including those with dementia. At first, he refused to believe a cat could sense when a person was dying. Oscar seemed to have a mission to comfort dying patients and their families. Author Sara Gruen, quoted on Amazon, says,  “Oscar has much to teach us about empathy and courage. I couldn’t put (this book) down.”

Ginny

Speaking of special gifts, how about Ginny? Dogs and cats are supposed to be enemies, aren’t they? Not Ginny! This little stray, rescued by Philip Gonzalez, had a gift for sniffing out handicapped kitties that needed rescuing. Here you can see her cuddling with a friend.

And that’s not all! Of course, as a librarian, I can’t forget this audiobook!

Dewey

And we’ve got books on cat biology, cat care, cat detectives, and much more! Happy Hug your cat day!
